Ride the Polar Express to See Santa

Take a thrilling train ride to the Grand Canyon, stay at a rustic lodge & go on a magical adventure to the "North Pole" aboard the Polar Express. (AGES 3+ ONLY.)

About Your Trip

The Grand Canyon, a multicolored geological wonder that dates back 270 million years, is a whopping 277 miles (446 kilometers) long, 18 miles (29 kilometers) wide and 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) deep. On this epic DreamTrip for guests ages 3 years and older, you’ll get to experience this phenomenon in person!

Climb aboard a fully restored vintage train and prepare to be wowed as you travel along the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams Depot to Grand Canyon National Park. Make sure to have your camera ready as the train whisks you through miles of scenic landscapes — you might even catch a glimpse of California condors, mule deer, skunks, mountain lions and elks roaming the area! Along the way, enjoy refreshing snacks and drinks while listening to commentary from a seasoned guide. Once the train reaches Grand Canyon National Park, you’ll stay overnight at a lodge near the rim of the Grand Canyon. During leisure time, why not check out the South Rim for sweeping panoramic views? Then, head down below the rim to see the canyon from a different perspective. Stop by the many visitor centers, museums and other historic buildings scattered throughout the park to learn more about the fascinating landscape.

The fun isn’t over yet! Get into the holiday spirit early and board the Grand Canyon Railway’s Polar Express train for an unforgettable trip to the “North Pole,” where Santa Claus and his reindeer will be waiting! While traveling, sip on hot cocoa and savor delicious chocolate chip cookies while listening to the beloved story, “The Polar Express.” Plus, kids will be given a special surprise gift from Santa himself!

What we love:
• The Grand Canyon was established as a UNESCO World Heritage site on October 26, 1979.
• Every morning, the town marshal and the rogue cowboys of the Cataract Creek Gang engage in a showdown at the Williams Depot. You don’t want to miss this fascinating glimpse into the Old West way of life!
• Musicians are known to roam the train playing traditional western tunes as the train travels to the Grand Canyon’s picturesque South Rim.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

Destination

Grand Canyon National Park comprises more than 1.2 million acres (485, 622 hectares) of land in Arizona, one of America’s Four Corner States. The immense geological formation known as the Grand Canyon stretches across 277 miles (446 kilometers) of multicolored sandstone, shale and limestone. The oldest stones here are nearly 2 billion years old and are found in the bottommost reaches of the canyon, approximately 6,000 feet (1,828 meters) from the rim.

More than 5 million visitors experience the canyon’s overwhelming size and vibrant, red-orange hues each year. Hiking trails in and around the canyon attract plenty of backpackers and campers, but the challenging terrain can make any trek strenuous. A ride on the Grand Canyon Railway is a more comfortable way to view some of the best points in the canyon, making it a popular choice for couples and families.

Wildlife:
• As you travel through the forests of Grand Canyon country, keep your eyes out for elk, mountain lions, mule deer, squirrels and skunks.

• While at the South Rim, you’ll notice the animals are accustomed to humans, but please do not feed the animals as this increases their dependency on people for food.
